'GOALS' was part of a commissioned Ket&Doc initiative by VAF; the Flemish Audiovisual Fund, KETNET; the children's television channel of Flanders and JEF Film festival; the leading children's film festival of Belgium. Every year there are 5 emerging filmmakers selected to produce a creative short documentary for children.
During a seemingly never-ending summer of hanging out in the Antwerp neighbourhood, the film follows two best friends, Charlotte and Husna, who both dream of a professional football career. Both girls play for the local football club in Luchtbal, but Charlotte’s exceptional talent is beginning to set her apart. After the summer, she will transfer to a more advanced team and move to a sports boarding school, leaving Husna behind. Soon, the two friends will face the bittersweet reality of growing up, as they must learn to support each other from a distance, watching from the sidelines as their paths begin to diverge.
Premiering at Dokleipzig film festival 2022 and IDFA 2022
