Florinda Ciucio (Antwerp, 1993) is a visual artist and film-
maker from Belgium. She holds a Master’s degree in Film
Directing from LUCA School of Arts Brussels. After directing
short documentaries, she expanded her practice into video
art and installation.
Working with moving image, CGI, archival material, photo-
graphy and sound, her practice explores how technology and
images shape our perception of reality. Her works often fo-
cus on landscapes, memory and digital media, questioning
the distance between what is real and what is constructed,
projected or imagined.
Her work has been supported by the Flanders Department
of Culture and Arts, VOCATIO and the Flanders Film Fund,
and developed through residencies at Viafarini Milan and
Cité Internationale des Arts Paris. Her work has been pre-
sented internationally, including at LOOP Barcelona, Noor-
derlicht Biennale, Be-Part Kortrijk, Castel Belasi and Espace
Vanderborght Brussels.

GREEN DOSE features CGI landscapes inspired by the iconic Val di Mello region, accompanied by a pink noise soundscape simulating water. It explores the scientific theory ‘Attention Restoration Theory’, suggesting that immersing yourself in a natural landscape that invites exploration and novelty, reduces stress by engaging the brain’s default mode network.

The work is inspired by the popular use of fake fireplace videos as a way to decorate home environments, reinterpreting this concept through landscape by staging a simulated outdoor scene within a constructed window.

“notification” is a sound installation inviting the audience to reflect on their capacity for attention, contemplation and boredom. The sound, an artificially emulated gong, plays every 47 seconds, created by blending and distorting today’s most common phone notification tones.

The sound installation THE TELEPHONE GAME is an exploration of fake news inspired by the children’s game, where a story gets distorted through being passed down a whisper chain. The work playfully reveals how disinformation is created and how stories change as they spread.

Filmed from the highest viewpoints in Paris, the video searches for open panoramas meant to offer collective contemplation, only to encounter views increasingly obstructed by natural elements.
